The occasion

A shared life.
Two individual expressions.

Commissioned to commemorate the twentieth wedding anniversary celebrations of Mr. Suriya & Mrs. Jyotika in Scotland, these two bespoke brooches were conceived as lasting expressions of a shared life—personal jewels shaped around an exceptional occasion.

The commission explored the relationship between two distinct personalities and one shared story. Through considered design, meaningful gemstones and precise craftsmanship, each brooch found its own expression while remaining connected to its companion.

Inside the creative process

Emotion gives direction.
Precision gives it form.

01

Listening, before drawing.

The process began with listening: understanding the people, the occasion and the feeling the jewels should carry. Research then gave those conversations a wider creative context, helping Elmira find a direction that felt personal and considered.

02

Finding the story.

Before the final silhouette came the narrative. Ideas were connected, questioned and distilled into a story for the pair—one that could embrace individuality while expressing a shared bond.

03

Many sketches. Every line considered.

Hand sketching allowed the ideas to remain fluid. Through many iterations, Elmira explored rhythm, proportion and the relationship between the monograms and gemstones. Each revision brought the emotion closer to a wearable form.

04

Creativity meets its constraints.

A beautiful line must also hold a stone, support a setting and sit comfortably on the body. Technical limitations became part of the design conversation: balancing visual lightness with structure, gemstone protection and the practical demands of making.

05

From the hand to the digital atelier.

Precision design and 3D CAD translated the creative intent into controlled dimensions and construction. The emotional language of the sketches met the exacting requirements of manufacturing technology—refining the design without losing its character.

06

The story becomes a jewel.

Design and manufacturing remained connected through the final stages of making, setting and finishing. The result brings the freedom of creative expression together with the discipline that allows a personal jewel to be worn and treasured.
